how-to for online strength coaches who leave illness-rule notes on under-the-weather sessions at the usual gym
How to write sick day notes clients actually follow
Sick day notes work when they are one finishable illness-rule line on the under-the-weather session—not a recovery essay buried in chat.

Lead with one illness-rule line the client can follow
A useful sick-day note sounds like cut volume if still congested, or skip hard conditioners if symptoms linger—not a paragraph of illness theory. If the client cannot apply the illness rule while training, shorten it. This is a writing method for the sick-day note itself, not a soreness sore-area-rule-line writing method.
Put the note on the under-the-weather session, not in chat
Even a perfect illness rule fails if clients have to dig for it while standing in their usual gym on a sick day. Attach the note to the under-the-weather session so it appears when the workout opens.
Do not turn every sick day into a recovery lecture
Long illness write-ups and repeated recovery essays recreate review work on a day the client already feels bad. Keep day-to-day sick-day notes to one finishable line. Save deeper return-to-training plans for programmed blocks or check-ins.
Keep the Lyfta nudge natural
When the one-illness-rule-line rule is clear, a product like Lyfta Coach helps if the sick-day note sits on the under-the-weather session instead of living only in a message thread.
